What is low-pressure die casting?

For low-pressure die casting, the mould is placed in the machine horizontally. The liquid aluminium is injected into the mould from below through a riser pipe. This is done at low speed and with low overpressure. The air is slowly pushed out of the product cavity, resulting in a high-strength non-porous casting. Low-pressure die casting is suitable for castings between 1-50 kg.

Where is the product casted?

The low-pressure die casting process is performed at our aluminium foundries in China and India. At these foundries, we have more than fifteen fully automated LPDC machines. Our state-of-the-art machines guarantee a superior surface finish and excellent dimensional accuracy. Our aluminium foundries are ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 14001:2015 certified to guarantee the quality of our castings and offer our clients the assurance they want.

The benefits of low-pressure die casting

Low-pressure die casting offers various advantages. We have listed the key benefits below:

  • This casting method is highly suitable for the production of larger castings
  • This casting method is highly suitable for the production of small to medium-sized series of products
  • It is possible to create complex moulds with the help of sand cores and inserts
  • Low cost per casting compared to sand casting
  • Castings with excellent mechanical properties
  • Non-porous, pressure-tight and high-strength castings

"Perla AluCast was instrumental in our transition from sand-casting to low-pressure die casting for our casings. This has resulted in a more dimensionally accuratency and better looking final product."

We will think along with you throughout the entire casting process

With our extensive experience, we at Perla AluCast know exactly what you need during the development and production of aluminium castings. We can assist you at every stage of the casting process. Compared to other aluminium foundries, we go the extra mile.

During the design process

After you submit your request, we will evaluate the 3D design of your casting together. We will advise you on how to optimise the casting's design for production. This helps to minimise the risks during production and will lead to a better - and often cheaper - end product. If your casting forms part of a larger product, we will make the component easier and faster to assemble.

During the production process

Before we begin the low-pressure die casting process, we will create a product file and draw up a planning. Next, we will begin production of the mould. We perform interim inspections at various stages during production.

After the production process

Once the production process is complete and the final inspection has been performed, it is time to ship the aluminium castings to you. If necessary, we can use e.g. CNC processing, tumbling, blasting, technical anodising, wet painting, powder coating or heat treatment to finish and strengthen the castings.
